INNOVATION TO COMPETE

Elevators play a crucial role in the building industry. Italian companies are establishing themselves on the international market thanks to their ability to explore new technological frontiers with an eye for design.

Innovation is key to return to growth after the slowdown caused by the squeeze on building renovation tax deduction schemes. The elevator industry is closely linked to the trends that characterise the construction sector.

Cresme estimates that the latter saw a slowdown in investment of the order of 4.2% in 2024, with a further contraction of 6.2% expected this year. After an exceptional three-year period driven by the Superbonus tax deduction scheme and, to a lesser extent, the resumption of public works, the residential renovation sector pays the highest price with a fall of 16.9% in 2024 and 21.1% in 2025. Inevitable developments, says Cresme, following the government's decision to reduce schemes linked to bricks and mortar.

We caught up with some of the exhibitors at the next edition of GEE-Global Elevator Exhibition as we wait to see their innovations in person.
