Tk Elevator Italia is focusing on young people – regardless of their current skillset – having established a comprehensive training programme to meet the changing demands of the market. The company, a member of the multinational TK Elevator group with a thousand sites in over 100 countries, boasts 20 offices and 500 staff across Italy, including 350 engineers. The company turns over in excess of 150 million euros and serves more than 50,000 customers. The firm specialises in fitting and maintaining passenger transport systems for the public and private sectors, offering a round-the-clock Universal Assistance service and technical support every day of the year, for all brands and models. “Over the years, we've played a key role in major projects, including the development of Palazzo Lombardia and the central station transport systems in Milan, the Intesa San Paolo Tower and Porta Nuova Station in Turin, and Rome’s new Metro Line C, as well as networks in Naples, Palermo, and Catania,” says Daniele Pavan, technical director and quality manager. The Italian market has grown significantly, with substantial investment in staff: 90% are full-time and 20% are under 35. “Investing in training is vital to effectively support new staff,” Pavan says.
For new engineers, regardless of their experience and specific skills, we provide a training course to earn a lift engineer licence. The course lasts around 330 hours, with over 70% dedicated to safety and technical skills. The rest of the programme focuses on managing company products, solutions, and policies. “To demonstrate the quality and breadth of our courses, we are proud to say that in 2024, Tke Italia’s first female engineer began her training with us,” Pavan adds. Focusing on future generations and addressing the shortage of skilled engineers, Tke Italia has also launched an initiative for future workers, enabling the company to engage with the local community and introduce young people to the world of elevator engineering. “In 2024, we teamed up with Randstad to start the Tke Academy project, a course for students at technical colleges. It included a series of informative sessions, tours, and activities at our main office in Cologno Monzese,” Pavan says.
This initiative also gives Tk Elevator Italia a chance to showcase the career opportunities available in the lift industry. The mobility sector – especially vertical mobility – will grow continuously in the next few years given the need to build taller buildings. The company believes we must meet the demand for flexible and smart mobility systems with increasingly tailored, effective and efficient solutions.
